2025 Update Announcement ofPending Price Increase
The United States Government has instituted a 25% nationwide duty (tax) on derivative articles of steel, which includes all Quickscrews manufactured in Taiwan. This duty went into effect on March 12, 2025. Determining the least disruptive way to address this cost increase has been a priority, but it must be passed on through increased pricing.
Overseas freight continues to be impacted by the ongoing international conflict, where the Houthis, a designated terrorist group, are firing on international shipping vessels. Some recent stabilization in freight costs has been observed, which provides an opportunity to help limit the impact of the duty increase.
Efforts are being made to push primary manufacturers to reduce pricing in order to assist in keeping costs down and offset the additional duties. The goal is to achieve up to a 5% decrease in finished goods material costs to help further offset the increase.
Based on current information, a price increase will take effect on April 28th. Two implementation methods are being considered. The increase will be the same in both cases, but applied differently:
Surcharge on Orders – A percentage-based surcharge will be applied to each order to cover the additional duties. Order confirmations and invoices will include a surcharge box displaying the percentage added and the extra charges due to the duties.
Updated Price Lists – Customer price lists will be updated to reflect the new pricing. Once completed, customers will be notified and can request their updated price lists as needed.
The exact percentage of the increase is still being determined, with expectations ranging between 6% and 11%. Additional time is needed to focus on reducing the increase and the effects it would have on the valued craftspeople and businesses that rely on Quickscrews’ 37 years of fastener expertise and service to build, create, and deliver quality work. Every effort will be made to implement the least impactful changes to business operations.
